A profound book, a committed editorial work
On the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the consecration of Lausanne Cathedral, Éditions Saint-Augustin is publishing an exceptional work: Praying at Lausanne Cathedral by Aurélie Netz, with a foreword by Line Dépraz. This book, at the crossroads of contemporary spirituality, anthropological inquiry, and liturgical experience, is also the fruit of a demanding and committed editorial process — the kind of work we are proud to undertake.
When publishing becomes spiritual accompaniment
Receiving a manuscript like that of Aurélie Netz means opening a space for listening: that of a collective inner quest, embodied here in 3,500 anonymous prayers deposited in the cathedral. As publishers, our mission has been to accompany this voice with accuracy and respect, from the very first word to the printed book.
This involves:
- Careful editing of texts combining testimonies, liturgical narratives, and anthropological reflection;
- A fluid layout, allowing words and silences to breathe;
- Sensitive graphic design, including original works by the artist Tania Netz, currently exhibited at the cathedral.
A tribute to a living place of prayer
This book is far more than a document. It bears witness to the fact that, in an urban and often secularized society, prayer remains a profoundly relevant act. And the cathedral, far from being a mere heritage monument, continues to be a place of welcome, passage, vulnerability, and faith.
This is also why we chose to publish this work: because it speaks of what the Church can still mean today — in its diversity, its discretion, and its depth.
